Happy Post Halloween and may your sweet tooth be satisfied! I love the first day of November because I love candy!!!
Last month began with the City of Brentwood celebrating its 75th Birthday of becoming an incorporated city the East Contra Costa Historical Society. It was a fabulous affair; and the volunteers of the ECHS prepared the buildings on site to offer a glimpse into the history of Brentwood replicating homescapes, fashion, and what classrooms looked like. In fact, local historian Carol Jensen has written Brentwood 75th Anniversary Edition, filled with stories of how our city came to be what it is today. We had two AMAZING Ribbon Cuttings. Welcome back Shadow Lakes Golf Club with beautiful greens and a full 18-hole course! We also welcomed new business and family-owned franchisees American Family Care (AFC) located at the Streets of Brentwood (opposite end of the AMC Theater).
The Brentwood Power Network hosted by Director Denise Cosgrove (Cosgrove Insurance Agency) provided an introduction to utilizing the directory listing and access to additional social media tools that is included with every Brentwood Chamber Membership. This group meets twice a month (2nd Wednesday on Zoom and 4th Wednesday is In-Person), register today and create powerful connections!.
Our mixer was held at Westmont Living of Brentwood. We were treated to delicious treats prepared by the chef and hospitality team, and the grounds were absolutely lovely. During the mixer, I asked, what was your favorite costume growing up? A fair amount of superheroes were shared. What was your favorite costume? Think about the qualities or traits of that persona/subject and perhaps it might offer insight into why you do what you do!
Speaking of costumes, many many thanks to all the businesses that participated in this year’s Hometown Halloween. The creativity at the booths in conjunction with the wonderful families that come out makes this event one of Brentwood’s most anticipated events of the year! Director Adam Martinez (Handydads Construction) has been chairing this event for years and his Co-Chair Ambassador Carri McCurdy (Mary Kay), brought together a great team so that the community could once again fill the buckets with candy and good spirits!
This month we have a lot to look forward to as well.
Calling all Hosts with the Mosts!!! Our November Mixer is designed to give chamber members who may not have the necessary space to host a mixer the chance to co-collaborate with a few other fellow members. The Chamber has reserved space at the Community Center and we’re inviting members to co-host. Learn more about this exciting opportunity in the newsletter.
